Dumont - Heavier than Air

Santos Dumont is an ambitious man, acclaimed almost worldwide as the first man to fly an airplane. The narrative reveals his challenges to accomplish his objective and his trajectory through WWI.

Synopsis

In 1897, Alberto Santos Dumont moved from Brazil to France, where he decided to contact a professor who knew aeronautics to teach him how to fly a balloon, with a good payment involved, the Professor could not decline it. After Santos Dumont found out the professor did not know how to actually fly, he looked for a professional, Lachambre & Machuron, famous, but small ballooners company. Dumont was feeling extremely delighted with the feeling pf flying, so excited he joined Lachambre at the balloon factory, where he built his first balloon, called Brazil. After many other lighter than air machines, Dumont decided it was time to add an engine, when he spread the word, he was taken and a lunatic by the other aeronautics. Dumont did believe the possibility, so he found a perfect small, but power engine that could make him fly. 1906, After many fails, the 14-Bis was the first heavier than air machine to take fly without any help. Dumont flew many other times until others start making other airplanes, better, faster, stronger, fatal. Airplanes now were war machines, Dumont could not support his creation to be used to kill others, he was the only aeronautic trying to stop this madness, but how could they stop? It was too profitable, especially during the WWI. After many unsuccessful attempts to make them stop, Dumont could not handle the massacres, he decided to take his on life.
